For all of you who’ve been watching this channel for a while, be aware that we’ll be doing a live appearance at the ACFE Annual Certified Fraud Examiners Global Fraud Conference coming up in Nevada here in a couple of weeks.

Keynote Presentation on Advanced Fraud Victim Support
I’m going to be doing a keynote presentation on Advanced Fraud Victim Support. It’s going to be talking about how, as an investigator, once you discover the fraud for a victim, their world is just beginning. Right, you may have completed your case, but you have to remember that they now have to deal with the effects of that fraud: the loss of that money, the reality that their money may be at risk.

Importance of Empathy and Support
So, as an investigator, we want to provide more resources, at least a better bedside manner, right? Being more empathic, being more supportive, and offering resources where they can go to try to help recover some of their funds, report these to authorities, or what actions to take that might help them. You don’t want to just drop a report on them and say, “Yep, you got scammed,” and then walk away. You want to be more of a proactive resource for that victim.

Advice for Fraud Victims
As an investigator, as a victim, if you’ve lost money in a fraud, remember that you’re not alone in the world. There may be other resources you can tap into for maybe funds recovery, maybe reporting, maybe other types of consulting. If the investigator you’re working with is just there to find the fraud, that’s fine. Everybody has their own niche, but make sure you avail yourself of support resources so you’re not feeling like you’re out alone in the world when you just found out you had a major catastrophic event happen to you financially.

Available Resources and Conference Invitation
You can click the link below; we have some resources there. We have consulting available, we have recovery resources available, but either way, we’d love to see you at the ACFE Fraud Conference. There’s a lot of great information there from all kinds of investigators and all kinds of government agencies. If you are all in the area and can attend, you do not have to be a member of the ACFE. We’re a member of the Certified Fraud Examiners Association, but you don’t have to be a member; you can attend as a non-member. It’s a great event. They have it every year. This is a big one; this is their 35th anniversary, so it’s going to be a huge event, a lot more activity than normal. We’d love to see you there. If you’re around, stop by and say hi. If not, we’ll see you on the next video.
